XenAI Limited ("we", "us", "our") operates Life in the UK Mock Test (the "Service"). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We are the data controller for that information.
Your account Your email address, a password stored only as a secure hash, and an optional display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google and create your account from them. We never receive your Google password.
Your practice Your test scores, how many questions you answered correctly in each topic, the answers you gave, the mistakes you saved, and any questions you flagged. This is what produces your progress and your weak-topic list.
Technical information The IP address you last signed in from, and a basic fingerprint derived from your browser's request headers. We use these to apply the one free test per day limit to visitors who are not signed in, and to spot accounts being shared. We also record simple events such as starting a test or beginning a checkout.
Payments Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We store the plan you bought, the amount, the currency, the status of the payment, and the identifiers Stripe gives us so we can match a payment to your account.
Where AI explanations are available, we send the following to OpenAI: the question text, the correct answer, and the answer you chose. For the summary shown after a test, we send your score in each topic, for example "British history: 3 of 5". We do not send your name, your email address or your account identifier, so OpenAI does not receive anything that identifies you. OpenAI acts as our processor for this.
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising.
Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where data is transferred, it is protected by the safeguards those providers put in place, such as the UK addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses.
We set no cookies of our own. We store a small amount of information in your browser's local storage: your sign-in token, an in-progress test so a refresh does not lose your answers, which study guide chapters you have read, and your cookie choice.
Analytics and advertising scripts are blocked until you allow them. Nothing non-essential loads while your choice is undecided or refused. When analytics is allowed we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity; when advertising is allowed we load Google AdSense. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account yourself at any time from your account settings. Deleting it removes your profile, your test history, your saved mistakes and your payment records.
We keep one record of the deletion itself, holding the email address, the date, and whether a subscription was cancelled as part of it. We keep that so we can answer questions about an account that no longer exists, and so a deletion can be traced.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, email support@lifeintheukmocktest.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Connections use HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes and never in plain text. Access to the production database is restricted. No system is completely secure, so please use a password you do not use anywhere else.
The Service is intended for adults preparing for the Life in the UK test. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
